Biography Born in the Pas-de-Calais, L'Heritier is said to have been a pupil of Josquin, perhaps at the French royal court. He arrived at Ferrara in 1506, just after the death of Jacob Obrecht, and appears to have spent the rest of his career in Italy. His final publication was a book of motets, 1555.
He shares attributions of some works with Adrian Willaert, Jean Mouton, Philippe Verdelot, and Guillaume Le Heurteur.
