General Information

Title: Missa Père de nous
Composer: Pierre Colin

Number of voices: 4vv   Voicing: STTB
Genre: SacredMass

Language: Latin
Instruments: A cappella

First published: 1556 in Lyon
Description: From the Música Colonial Archive. A four part mass. Attributed in the late 17th/early 18th Century source to "Petrus Colineus". The setting of the Benedictus is not included in the source, perhaps because by that time in Spain and Latin America the Benedictus was usually sung to a simple 3 part setting. Robert Stevenson's Catalogue of the Música Colonial Archive states: "According to a kind reply from A. Hyatt King dated July 28, 1969, none of the Masses in British Museum K.2.i.30 concords with the present Mass". The mass is now identified by the archive as the Missa Père de nous, published at Lyon in 1556.
