Italian text Non è dolor ch'avanzi la mia doglia, E par che mia fortuna così voglia. Son disperato, e pur mi segue amore, Per consumarmi con maggior dolore.

English translation There is no sorrow that exceeds my sorrow, and it seems that my fortune wants it so. I am desperate, and yet love pursues me, to burn me with greater pain. (Tr. Ruth I. DeFord)
