Biography
Born in Weimar, Christoph Wilhelm Leonhard Gerhard became a citizen of Leipzig in 1805 and dramaturg a few years later at the municipal theater. From 1827 he ran a summer theater park, coming into contact with Heinrich Marschner, Albert Lortzing and Felix Mendelssohn.
