Italian text Madonna, hor che direte, che‘n tutto l‘amor mio perduto havete? Voi pensavate sol darmi tormento, Et pascermi di vento, Di parolette ardite, ne mai farmi contento. No, no: quel (che’l) fuoco in me del tutto è spento. Deggio aprivi il mio cor, madonna? Udite: Poi che sì cruda sete, (ch’)In tutto l’amor mio perduto havete.

German translation Meine Dame, werdet ihr nun sagen, dass ihr meine Liebe völlig verloren habt? Ihr dachtet nur daran, mich zu quälen, und mich vom Wind zu nähren, von kecken Reden, niemals mich zufriedenzustellen. Nein, nein: dieses Feuer in mir ist völlig erloschen. Soll ich mein Herz öffnen, meine Dame? Hört: da Ihr so grausam seid, habt Ihr meine Liebe völlig verloren.

English translation My lady, will you say now, that you completely have lost my love? You only thought of tormenting me, and feeding me by wind, by perky talk, never making me content. No, no: that fire in me is completely extinct. Shall I open my heart, my lady? Listen: because you are so cruel, you have completely lost my love.
