English text When Israel was in Egypt's land, Let my people go. Oppressed so hard they could not stand, Let my people go. R: Go down, Moses, 'Way down in Egypt land. Tell old Pharaoh: Let my people go. “Thus spoke the Lord”, bold Moses said, Let my people go. “If not I'll strike your firstborn dead,” Let my people go. R. “No more shall they in bondage toil”, Let my people go. “Let them come out with Egypt's spoil”, Let my people go. R.

French translation Israël était en terre d'Égypte Libère mon peuple Si oppressé qu'il ne pouvait se lever Libère mon peuple. Descends, Moïse, en terre d'Égypte Dis au vieux pharaon : "Libère mon peuple." Ainsi parle le Seigneur, dit Moïse fièrement : Sinon, je frapperai tes premiers-nés. Ils ne souffreront plus dans les liens Laisse-les quitter l'Égypte avec leur butin.
