Italian text Cor mio, benchè lontana Pur quest' alma t'adora E spera rivederti anzi che mora; Hor col pensier ti mira, Ma se gode il pensier, l'alma sospira E cieca vive in pianto E nella speme si consuma intanto.

English translation My heart, although at a distance yet this soul still adores you and hopes to see you again ere it perishes; now in thought it gazes on you, but if the mind rejoices, the soul sighs and, blind, lives weeping and in hope, meanwhile, consumes itself. Translation by Allen Garvin
