The Ascension is one of the great feasts in the Christian liturgical calendar, and commemorates the bodily Ascension of Jesus into Heaven. Ascension Day falls on a Thursday, the fortieth day of Easter, but in most countries it may be transferred to the following Sunday. Click here for the rest of the Wikipedia article on Ascension.

A special doxology "Jesu tibi sit gloria, qui victor..." of the Compline hymn Te lucis ante terminum is sung from this day to Pentecost.
