Deus stetit in synagoga deorum; in medio autem deos dijudicat. 2  Usquequo judicatis iniquitatem, et facies peccatorum sumitis? 3  Judicate egeno et pupillo; humilem et pauperem justificate. 4  Eripite pauperem, et egenum de manu peccatoris liberate. 5  Nescierunt, neque intellexerunt; in tenebris ambulant: movebuntur omnia fundamenta terrae. 6  Ego dixi: Dii estis, et filii Excelsi omnes. 7  Vos autem sicut homines moriemini, et sicut unus de principibus cadetis. 8  Surge, Deus, judica terram, quoniam tu haereditabis in omnibus gentibus.

Church of England 1662 Book of Common Prayer English text 1  God standeth in the congregation of princes: he is a Judge among gods. 2  How long will ye give wrong judgement: and accept the persons of the ungodly? 3  Defend the poor and fatherless: see that such as are in need and necessity have right. 4  Deliver the outcast and poor: save them from the hand of the ungodly. 5  They will not be learned nor understand, but walk on still in darkness: all the foundations of the earth are out of course. 6  I have said, Ye are gods: and ye are all the children of the most Highest. 7  But ye shall die like men: and fall like one of the princes. 8  Arise, O God, and judge thou the earth: for thou shalt take all heathen to thine inheritance.

Isten az istenek gyülekezetében áll, és itéli abban az isteneket.
Meddig itéltek hamisságot, és tekintitek a bűnös személyét?
Tegyetek itéletet a szűkölködőnek és árvának; a megalázottnak és szegénynek szolgáltassatok igazságot.
Mentsétek meg a szegényt, és a szűkölködőt szabadítsátok ki a bűnös kezéből.
De ők nem tudják ezt, és nem értik, sötétségben járnak; azért ingadoz a föld minden alapja.
Én mondottam: Istenek vagytok, és a Fölséges fiai mindnyájan.
De azért mint emberek fogtok meghalni, és mint egy a fejedelmek közől, elestek.
Kelj föl, Isten! itéld meg a földet, mert te örökségűl bírod mind a nemzeteket.

English text 1. God in the great assembly stands Where his impartial eye In state surveys the earthly gods, And does their judgments try. 2. How dare you then unjustly judge, Or be to sinners kind? Defend the orphans and the poor, Let such your justice find.

3. Protect the humble helpless man, Reduced to deep distress, And let not him become a prey To such as would oppress. 4. They neither know, nor will they learn, But blindly rove and stray; Justice and truth, the world's great props, Through all the land decay.

5. Well then may God in anger say, I've called you by my name. I've said ye are gods, and all allied To the most high in fame. 6. But ne'ertheless your unjust deeds To strict account I'll call; You all shall die like common men, Like other tyrants fall.

7. Arise and thy just judgments, Lord, throughout the earth display; And all the nations of the world Shall own thy righteous sway.
